About the McMeekin-Rolinson Family
When I started researching the family history I had no idea that my family had any connection to Cumnock in Ayrshire where husband David comes from. I found my ancestors living alongside his ancestors in Glengyron Row.

The Rolinsons were iron miners from the Black Country of England. They moved to Cumnock with friends and family in the 1860s. They moved around, judging by the birthplaces of their children, eventually settling in Calderbank,Lanarkshire by 1891 although other family members remained in the Cumnock area.

John McMeekin born 1811 was a shoemaker from Newton Stewart in Wigtonshire who moved his family to Cumnock in the 1850s and became a miner too. His wife Helen Flinn's father was Irishman Peter Flinn who moved to Garlieston area of Wigtonshire around 1800.
